Pada 24 Juli 2023, harga emas terus mengalami penurunan menjelang pengumuman kebijakan bank sentral Amerika Serikat (AS), The Federal Reserve (The Fed). Pada perdagangan tersebut, harga emas di pasar spot ditutup di posisi US$ 1.954,52 per troy ons, mengalami pelemahan sebesar 0,29%. Pelemahan ini memperpanjang tren penurunan emas dalam empat hari beruntun, dengan pelemahan total mencapai 1,22%.
Namun, pada 25 Juli 2023, harga emas sedikit membaik di awal perdagangan, berada di posisi US$ 1.954,88 per troy ons atau menguat sebesar 0,02%.
Penurunan harga emas disebabkan oleh sikap “wait and see” pelaku pasar, yang menunggu kebijakan The Fed. The Fed menggelar rapat Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) dan diharapkan akan menaikkan suku bunga sebesar 25 basis poin menjadi 5,25-5,5% pada bulan ini. Meskipun pasar sudah hampir yakin dengan kenaikan suku bunga, yang ditunggu-tunggu adalah sinyal mengenai kebijakan dovish atau pelonggaran kebijakan selanjutnya dari The Fed.
Pelaku pasar berharap agar The Fed memberikan sinyal jelas mengenai pelonggaran kebijakan, karena hal ini dapat membuat emas menguat tajam. Jika The Fed memberikan sinyal hawkish, maka harga emas bisa terus melemah.
Selain itu, tingginya imbal hasil surat utang AS, khususnya imbal hasil surat utang pemerintah AS tenor 10 tahun yang mencapai 3,86%, juga menjadi faktor yang membuat harga emas terus melemah.
Pasar emas saat ini dipengaruhi oleh kebijakan The Fed dan harapan atas sinyal mengenai kebijakan dovish yang dapat mempengaruhi tren harga emas ke depan. Pelaku pasar akan terus memantau perkembangan dan pengumuman resmi dari The Fed untuk menilai dampaknya terhadap pasar emas.
