PT Kontakperkasa – Harga emas mengalami penurunan yang signifikan setelah data ekonomi Amerika Serikat (AS) yang mengecewakan pasar. Pada perdagangan Kamis (21/9/2023), harga emas di pasar spot ditutup pada level US$ 1.919,57 per troy ons, mengalami pelemahan sebesar 0,52%. Ini merupakan level terendah sejak 14 September 2023, mencatatkan penurunan dalam lima perdagangan terakhir.
Penurunan tersebut melanjutkan tren negatif emas yang sudah terjadi dalam dua hari perdagangan sebelumnya, sehingga secara keseluruhan harga emas telah merosot sebesar 0,70%. Namun, pada perdagangan Jumat (22/9/2023) pukul 06:33 WIB, harga emas mengalami sedikit kenaikan sebesar 0,009%.
Penurunan harga emas kemarin terjadi setelah data tenaga kerja AS menunjukkan bahwa ekonomi AS masih dalam kondisi panas. Jumlah pengangguran yang mengajukan klaim berkurang sebanyak 20.000 orang menjadi 201.000 pada pekan yang berakhir pada 16 September. Angka tersebut merupakan yang terendah sejak Januari 2023.
Klaim pengangguran yang rendah menjadi sinyal bahwa pasar tenaga kerja AS masih dalam kondisi panas, sehingga inflasi AS sulit untuk ditekan. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa bank sentral AS, The Federal Reserve (The Fed), masih akan menjalankan kebijakan moneter yang ketat dalam jangka waktu yang lebih lama.
Sejalan dengan ekspektasi, The Fed memutuskan untuk mempertahankan suku bunga acuan di kisaran 5,25-5,50%, sesuai dengan yang diharapkan oleh pasar. Namun, The Fed memberikan isyarat bahwa mereka akan tetap menjalankan kebijakan yang ketat dan memungkinkan untuk kenaikan suku bunga di masa depan.
Hasil rapat Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) juga menunjukkan bahwa kebijakan moneter yang ketat akan berlanjut hingga tahun 2024, dengan pemangkasan suku bunga yang lebih sedikit dari yang sebelumnya diindikasikan.
Data dalam dot plot The Fed menunjukkan bahwa suku bunga berpotensi berada dalam kisaran 5,5-5,75% pada tahun ini, mengindikasikan kemungkinan adanya kenaikan suku bunga sebesar 25 bps lagi hingga akhir tahun.
Menurut analis dari Exinity, Han Tan, peluang kenaikan harga emas menjadi terbatas selama The Fed masih menjalankan kebijakan yang ketat. “Para trader emas benar-benar mempertimbangkan pernyataan The Fed, dan hal ini telah mengurangi antusiasme untuk membeli emas,” ujar Han Tan.
Analis dari Standard Chartered, Suki Cooper, juga menjelaskan bahwa harga emas akan sulit mengalami kenaikan yang signifikan selama pasar belum melihat tanda-tanda pemangkasan suku bunga. “Kenaikan harga emas, jika terjadi, mungkin akan bersifat sementara. Momentum kenaikan akan muncul hanya jika pasar yakin bahwa suku bunga akan dilonggarkan,” kata Cooper. – PT Kontakperkasa
