Perusahaan menciptakan jauh lebih banyak pekerjaan daripada yang diharapkan, laporan dari perusahaan pemrosesan gaji ADP pada hari Kamis. Pekerjaan sektor swasta melonjak sebesar 497.000 pada bulan tersebut, jauh lebih baik dari perkiraan konsensus Dow Jones sebesar 220.000. Kenaikan ini menjadi kenaikan bulanan terbesar sejak Juli 2022.
Data tersebut juga mengikuti risalah pertemuan Federal Reserve bulan Juni yang dirilis pada hari Rabu, yang menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pejabat akan mendukung kenaikan suku bunga lebih lanjut ke depan.
Di Australia, S&P/ASX 200 turun 1,8%, memimpin kerugian di wilayah tersebut.
Nikkei 225 Jepang turun 1,13% dan Topix melemah 1,1%. Di Korea Selatan, Kospi merosot 1,14% saat Samsung Electronics memperkirakan penurunan laba operasional kuartal kedua sebesar 96%.
Futures terkait indeks Hang Seng Hong Kong juga menunjukkan pembukaan yang lebih rendah.
